These posts are about Brent (who comments under the name Ialdabaoth). tl;dr: he has a history of coercing women in their late teens and early twenties into extreme BDSM scenes and emotionally abusive 24/7 BDSM relationships.
I personally know one of the authors and can vouch for the accuracy of the description. I have been troubled for a long time by Brent’s continued presence in the rationalist community, but have not wanted to speak publicly because the victims did not wish to come forward. I am glad that they are coming forward now and hope this will prevent future victimization.
My advice would be to NOT DATE BRENT, to share this information widely, to avoid inviting Brent to events, and to avoid introducing him to new people, especially if they are young women. Please respect the privacy of the victims and please do not harass anyone involved including Brent for fuck’s sake.
